“And Still We Rise” Productions is a collaboration of theater artists and social justice advocates working together with ex-prisoners and their loved ones to bring a powerful, articulate, personal voice of prison experience to the public for the purpose of healing, education, empowerment, and social change.
With the establishment of a safe and creative training environment and the use of theater exercises and therapeutic techniques, we aim to:
- Help participants gain skills and self-confidence in shaping and asserting their personal stories.
- Weave their story-telling together into performances that move audiences to greater understanding and compassion for the struggles of these and other individuals who spend years in prison and then strive to integrate back into society.
Several introductory workshops are offered throughout the year and new training cycles start approximately twice a year.
