Services:
The mission of the Boston Consortium of Services for Families in Recovery is to improve the effectiveness of services for women and families recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, mental illness, physical and/or sexual abuse. The program is based on research showing that addiction is linked to a history of trauma related to sexual and/or physical abuse, and that treatment of addiction must include services for the treatment of mental illness and trauma.
Specific services include trauma recovery and trauma-informed treatment plans; economic planning workshops; leadership training; parenting and communication skills training; and groups which focus on building self-esteem, self-care skills, knowledge of legal rights relating to reuniting with children, and skills in dealing with domestic violence.
The Consortium includes numerous Boston agencies, church groups, and state programs, ranging from BayCove Human Services to Victory Programs, Inc. The Consortium is part of the Boston Public Health Commission.
